From the time we got our invitation to take part in this year’s, Eye Society’s Dinner in the Dark, we were so thrilled. We looked forward to a unique dining experience of being blindfolded while savouring 2016 Asia’s Best Female Chef Margarita Fores’ special creations for the evening. SM Aura Premier’s Samsung Hall was the official venue and Möet & Chandon are the official wine partner.
My family didn’t quite know what to expect but when I shared with them the concept and the motive behind the event being Eye Society desire to stress the importance of fighting blindness, they were keen to take part in it.
We may not have had the chance to see our food first but we were blessed to be assured that it would be a great meal, considering Chef Gaita was in charge of the menu! All the rest of our senses were heightened with each dish.
The flavors came alive so much more. We were reminded to never take for granted the sense of sight that allows us to easily do everyday activities. We were reminded that we can actually fight blindness by following these three basic eye care steps: detection, prevention, and solution.
We are thankful for what was raised that evening. Eye Society auctioned off two pieces from their Bvlgari Le Gemme collection.
The first piece worth P17,990 was sold for P15,000 and the other one worth P460,000 was sold for P110,000. Proceeds of that auction will go to the Eye Bank Foundation of the Philippines.
Eye Society currently has 8 locations nationwide and continues to grow. For more information, visit eyesociety.com.ph and on Facebook and Instagram, @eyesocietyph. #EyeSocietyPH #ESDinnerintheDark
