mommy talk

Yesterday was Thursday and I happened to chance upon this lovely photo that was shared to me sometime ago by a Twitter friend. I thought it would be perfect for my throwback for Instagram as it had with me Anne Curtis who was 12 years old at the time the photo was taken during our scene in her first movie, Magic Kingdom.  This was my caption:

My throwback photo with @annecurtissmith. I was her mommy for her first movie when she was 12years old (I was a 27 having just given birth to my @ellapangilinanx) -Magic Kingdom directed by Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes no less! #tbtmlp

Since I tagged Anne, she was able to see it and wow, she provided more information to the photo:

My #ThrowbackThursday is courtesy of@mommymaricel ❤️She portrayed my mother in my very first film MAGIC KINGDOM. I was only 12 years old when the Masters of Philippine Cinema, Directors@lorereyes1 and @bakunawa chose me to be their Princess Dahlia; ang Perlas ng Damortis. I will forever be grateful for that. Who would’ve thought it would lead me to where I am today? Wow. Seeing this photo floods back so many memories. Beautiful ones. ❤️ What an amazing experience and memorable role for me. Hope to get a chance to do a film like this and work with the Gallaga-Reyes tandem once again. ❤️
Then this morning when I was pleasantly surprised to find a shared post from friend, Jo Macasa who works with the Gallaga-Reyes tandem from Pep Ph’s Pepparazi post that read:

It’s #ThrowbackThursday once again and on Anne Curtis’s Instagram account, the actress-TV host posted a photo of her 12-year-old self with actress Maricel Laxa.

It was a scene from her first-ever movie Magic Kingdom (1997) directed by Lore Reyes and Peque Gallaga.

Anne reminisces about this pic: “My #ThrowbackThursday is courtesy of @mommymaricel ❤️She portrayed my mother in my very first film MAGIC KINGDOM. I was only 12 years old when the Masters of Philippine Cinema, Directors @lorereyes1 and @bakunawa chose me to be their Princess Dahlia; ang Perlas ng Damortis. ❤️”

Pep Ph also shared the full length film that is uploaded in YouTube and so I got a chance to see it.  I must admit that just hearing the soundtrack and seeing how the film was directed and all the other aspects were spectacular minus all the high tech stuff that we are now able to tinker with.  Master directors Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes are genuises who are way ahead of their time whom I have the privilege of working with and yes indeed, I consider myself truly blessed !

I wish the same wish that Anne has made to do a film with the dynamic duo of Philippine Cinema and I hope that will not take very long for it to happen.  I am ‘kilig’ much with just that thought. But for now, let this photo and then the film speak for itself.  Indeed, this picture is worth a thousand words..
