This is Una.  She is the daughter of my childhood friend and gradeschool schoolmate, Geri and her husband, Dan. Una has been accepted at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design.  She has embarked on a  personal initiative to help out her parents fund her art education and practice her skills. Her goal is to complete 100 portraits and 100% of the proceeds will go to her tuition and moving-to-Canada fund.

According to her mom,

” Una is about to start a life as an art student. Technically, she isn’t one yet. So the skills she’s using to create these portraits are what she’s acquired from her private art lessons as a young girl!)”.

When I saw Geri’s message online, I was thrilled to take part in it because as a mother, I know I will do everything I can to help my child pursue her education so I can totally relate with Geri.  I have also followed Una’s life and her works thru her mom’s sharing and I want to have her organic interpretation of my two youngest children, Benjamin and Solana.

Here are the mechanics of the project:
  • Send a good, clear portrait photo of the subject at gilunag@gmail.com
  • Subject on email message: PORTRAITS {your name}
  • Una will paint a 5×7 portrait for you
  • Price per head/portrait is Php3000

Let’s help make Una’s dream come true!

    hello… i would just like to say, i think she would have more funds to spend for her study abroad if she forgo some things… like that batch trip to boracay and other beaches and concerts… which are what you see on facebook. those things cost a lot of money too.

    if she really wanted to go abroad… she should sacrifice things like that so the family can afford what MATTERS MOST… would be nicer if this was for supporting scholarship of other less privileged kids…

      Thank you for your insight . We have an open community and I respect each one’s opinions. On my part, I will combine considering the suggestions and praying that the desires of Una will be met.

      Best,
